The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL were finally announced yesterday, which means the updated APKs are starting to pop up. Yesterday, the Google Camera from the Pixel 3 was available to download on older devices. The next updated app is the Pixel Launcher, which can now be installed on Pixel, Nexus, and Android One devices.
You may recall that Google removed the Voice Search shortcut from the Pixel Launcher search bar in Android P Developer Preview 5. We discovered Google was testing a Google Assistant shortcut in its place, and that is exactly how it looks on the Pixel 3. That’s pretty much the only major change in this APK. One little detail is adaptive icons are forced for all apps, so you’ll get a uniform look no matter what.
Before / After
There are a few other minor visual tweaks as well. The most noticeable one is the App Info panel from the App Switcher screen. The old style was a pop-up that appeared behind the icon. The new look is a slide-down panel that covers the app preview. Download Pixel Launcher v9-4902955 from APK Mirror on your Pixel, Nexus, or Android One device. Let us know if you find any other differences!
